4th of July

We had a great 4th of July! We decided not to go anywhere, just stay at home - have a cookout and light off some fireworks. As it turned out, we didn't have to go anywhere anyway! The town we live in shot off fireworks from the park right down the street! We could see them from the yard :) The girls were all decked out in their red white and blue outfits :) Amazingly, Duncan was not afraid of anything! I just assumed that he would most likely be afraid, since he is afraid of loud noises - he hates the vacuum, the fan, any power tools... but he got such a kick out of it! He loved the firecrackers, Mike lit like half of a roll and it was sooo loud - but when it was all over Duncan said "Pow, Bam" and laughed!

The girls had a great time running around with sparklers, snapping their little snappy things on the cement and lighting up a bunch of snakes! We had some really cool bottle rockets that had glowing parachutes. Of course one glided right over and landed on the roof of the house! :) Luckily it didn't do anything.

It was a very hot day - earlier in the afternoon we set up the sprinklers and baby pool for the kids. The girls probably spent two hours running under the sprinklers! They really had a lot of fun.
